The big real estate demographic is in childless couples

Kids. Kids. Kids. Schools. Schools. Schools.

When it comes to neighborhood data, that always seems like the first thing Realtors want. Give me that good, old-fashioned educational information.

At SpatialMatch, we’re passionate about data.

We gather tons of it in every form – including detailed school statistics such as class size, student/teacher ratios, etc.

But guess what? Not everybody is interested in schools. In fact, according to demographer William Frey of the Brookings Institutions, 80% of households in America don’t have children at home.

Kids? Most couples now either don’t got them or they got them out of the house. And then you got the single people. Lots of them.

So, as a real estate professional, what kind of neighborhood show and tell do you have for these childless folks?

Because, not only are they not interested in schools, but they are also free to pursue a bunch of other endeavors such as yoga, hiking, walking the dog in the park or sitting at a coffee shop reading the paper.

They got a ton of free time. They want to do things. Hip things. Happening things.

That’s why SpatialMatch not only gathers comprehensive school data, but we also gather neighborhood/lifestyle data as well and package it into a user-friendly search format.

When you interview a prospective buyer and they tell you what they like to do for fun and where they like to hang out, you have at techno-cool way of pointing out how where those lifestyle locations are in relation to the properties they are considering.

The SpatialMatch lifestyle search engine comes in a colorful format – it’s map based with easy-to-use icons in the right hand rail.

Are they fond of Italian restaurants? You can show them where they are in a certain distance radius.

Same goes for coffee shops, book stores, yoga studios, clubs, gyms, parks – all the attractive places where active people like to hang out.

If you prefer a listing format as opposed to a map (or if you prefer both), there is also the Lifestyle Finder widget that goes right on your site as well.

There you will find tabs showing information on the Area, Market, and alas, Schools.

Hopefully you are getting the message here. These young home buyers (and young-minded childless home buyers in their later years) are not focused on kids.

When they consider neighborhoods, they are focused on other factors.

Are you going to be able to supply that specialized hyper-local information they will require?

Are you going to be able to present that information to them in a unique way, that lets them know, “Yes, this agent does know the neighborhood and has the most-up-to-date, awesome tools that show everything I need to know about the neighborhood.”

As you can see, the childless buyer is a big part of the demographic pie. Don’t limit your website to just school information because they will quickly become bored.

Show them the information that hits their hot buttons – chic places to go and chic things to do. And you can do it all on your website, with a gigantic data widget, that right now is free for Realtors.
