How a Realtor can help a family grow a child’s talent

There’s a new Olympics commercial from Procter & Gamble that is bound to prompt nearly all of America to tear up and reach for the tissue box.
It shows moms helping their children grow in a variety of winter sports – skating, snowboarding, hockey and skiing.
It starts with lots of shots of kids falling and falling…and then ends with, well, you will figure it out.
There’s a major point here that is something real estate professionals might want to consider in positioning homes for families.
And the neighborhood real estate map search tool SpatialMatch can help a broker or agent provide solutions to families who have children interested in pursuing a sport, or dancing or academics or any endeavor for that matter.
Here’s the point. If a family has a child interested in baseball, for example, the odds of them succeeding or growing in the sport have a geo-spatial relationship.
Essentially, if little Johnny is intensely interested in pitching, then it would help to have a baseball field near his home.
If little Sally is interested in figure skating, well, she’s going need some ice to do her pirouettes.
Doesn’t have to be sports. Maybe little Sammy loves to make noise on his trumpet. He will grow his talent exponentially if he is near a school with top-notch music teachers.
Or perhaps little Jenny doesn’t care about sports or music – but she’s darn smart. In that case, a parent is going to want to be located near a school with high rankings and low teacher student ratios.
Because here’s the sad reality. How many talented or motivated children never had a chance to fully develop those talents because they weren’t located near a baseball field or a high-ranking school or a dance studio with a talented teacher?
When an agent or brokers conducts their due diligence with home buyers, hopefully they will be able to uncover the desires some parents might have to nurture their children in certain areas.
And with the map-based SpatialMatch platform, an agent can point out homes for sales AND the location of those homes in relation to different amenities – baseball fields, skating rinks, libraries.
The distance sliders will even point out how far those facilities are from properties in question. A few miles could make the difference between, “Mom take me to practice” to “Ahh, I don’t feel like going. It’s too far too drive.”
If you watch the commercial, you will see a child’s future is obviously an emotional hot button. And it should be.
Perhaps with the SpatialMatch tool, a savvy agent or broker will end up playing a huge role in the successful development of a child by helping their family live in an area that helps that child develop.
Perhaps one day, when that child is running for a touchdown in a college football game, or performing on stage or yes, even standing atop the podium at the Olympics to accept a medal, that agent or broker will know they played a role in helping that family realize that dream.
